Keywords:
Early Detection, Education, Myocardial InfarctionAbstract
Myocardial infarction is a leading cause of death from cardiovascular disease and requires prompt and appropriate management to reduce mortality and morbidity rates. Delayed recognition of symptoms by the community often results in patients arriving late, increasing the risk of complications such as heart failure and arrhythmia. This community engagement program utilized a service-learning method involving 26 participants. Activities included material presentations and interactive discussions on early detection of myocardial infarction symptoms. Results showed increased participant knowledge of risk factors, symptoms, and appropriate early response steps. Participant involvement also improved in seeking timely medical help. These findings emphasize the importance of structured education to encourage preventive behavior and early detection to reduce complications and mortality from myocardial infarction at the primary healthcare level. Due to the short implementation period, further evaluation and sustained assistance are needed to enhance community literacy regarding myocardial infarction.
