Gout arthritis is a metabolic disorder caused by increased uric acid levels that can lead to joint pain, swelling, and impaired physical activity. Joint pain experienced by patients often interferes with daily activities and decreases quality of life. One of the complementary therapies that can be used as a holistic nursing intervention is cupping therapy. This community service activity aimed to improve community knowledge regarding gout arthritis and reduce joint pain through holistic cupping therapy based on Evidence Based Practice (EBP). The activity was conducted in May 2026 at the local public health center area involving 20 participants with complaints of joint pain due to gout arthritis. The implementation stages consisted of preparation, health education, demonstration, cupping therapy intervention, and evaluation. The cupping therapy was performed at several points, including Al-Kahil, Al-Akhda’in, Rukbah, Saaq, and Fakh. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the intervention. The results showed that most participants experienced a decrease in pain intensity after cupping therapy. Before the intervention, participants were mostly in the moderate pain category, while after therapy most participants experienced mild pain levels. Participants also reported feeling more relaxed, comfortable, and experiencing improved mobility after therapy. In addition, health education increased participants’ understanding regarding healthy lifestyle management and non-pharmacological pain management for gout arthritis. Holistic cupping therapy based on EBP can be used as a complementary nursing intervention to help reduce joint pain in patients with gout arthritis and improve community knowledge regarding holistic health management.
